My name is Riana, and I have a story to share that has transformed my perspective on lemons and life itself. Not to bore you with all the details, but if you were to have tried convincing me three decades ago that lemons had a use beyond limoncello, tequila, and wobbly wedges of cheesecake, our conversation would have ended on a sour note!
It all began with a profound moment of introspection when I found myself staring into the mirror of my soul, and to my surprise, I saw Eve staring back at me. Holding a crisp apple out in the palm of her hand, she asked, almost too faintly for me to hear, “Why are you blaming the lemons? It really has nothing to do with lemons. Or apples.”
This encounter sparked a deep curiosity within me, igniting the transformation of my very own Garden of Eden. Instead of swaying cross-legged from side to side, trying to hide whatever needs to be hidden with a flimsy fig leaf, all the while pointing crooked fingers of blame onto others, I made a conscious decision to drop my lemons and crooked fingers, and put them to a better use by wringing the snake’s bottleneck!
Lamentations 3:25 (NLT) says, “The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.” These words have been my guiding light as I’ve embarked on my journey as a Christian Counseling Therapist for the past 18 years. I walk with people whom God puts in my path, desiring to identify and separate the snake from their fruits, allowing the transformation of lemons into spiritual swords against the snake within.
This transformative journey has not only allowed me to help others but has also deeply enriched my own life. I have discovered that lemons, much like life’s adversities, can be turned into sources of strength and resilience and that every individual carries the potential to turn their challenges into victories.
I continue to be amazed at the power of transformation and the resilience of the human spirit, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this process.
